May 28, 2010........On our way to Chicago for a visit with the Southers, we stopped in Indianapolis to visit the Children's museum. It was really fun, but I wouldn't say we were totally thrilled with it. May 17, 2010..........Oh my! Adam never really had any big obsessions with characters from movies or tv shows, but Tyler LOVES "Toy Story." And Kohl's had these adorable stuffed characters for sale to promote "Toy Story 3" (which we've now seen twice in the theater!). Tyler is still sleeping with these guys today.

Here are the past few updates from Tyler's speech sessions with his therapist. He's really doing well! He's definitely trying to talk more, just not very clearly. But we're working on that. This week, we will begin working on the "sh" sound. Tyler substitutes several consonants with an "H" sound, so we're going to focus on one particular consonant sound each week.I'm so proud of Tyler!! Ben took a box cutter to the boys' rug today. Tyler threw up in the middle of the night a few days ago, and unfortunately, my cleaning efforts weren't good enough. So instead of throwing the "spot clean" rug entirely away, we shortened it. Time to try something new! Adam has a new chore chart. We are hoping this helps with some of his erratic behavior lately. His favorite restaurant these days is Skyline Chili for 2 hot dogs with shredded cheese on top, so that is one of the incentives for him to be good all week. Adam's preschool has a cute little sock hop dance each year as part of an outreach program. The kids bring in new socks to donate to the needy - very creative idea! We had so much snow this year! ( and sometimes the big snows come in March, too, so I shouldn't say we're done yet). We had a record total for the year somewhere around 30-33 inches (usually average around 25, I think). Adam loved it......Tyler hated it! Adam and his best friend Charlie across the street went to a Cincinnati Reds game with their daddies. They had a blast!! Adam, however, was not crazy about the fireworks that went off after homeruns. So, the boys only lasted through the 4th inning, but that was so much longer than we thought they would! Hopefully this will be a fun annual event for the boys!

We can now say, with raising two boys, we have had our first health emergency due to playing too hard. Adam was playing at Charlie's house, and the two of them were so excited coming down the stairs because we were talking about going to the pool for the first time this summer. Ben completed his second triathlon on June 7th! We are so proud of him! He shaved 45 minutes off his last finish time, coming in this year at 3hr 41min. Our neighbor, Rob, was Ben's canoe partner. Rob finished the triathlon in 3hr 10min. Way to go boys!

The day after Thanksgiving, we took the boys to see the trains at the Duke Energy building in downtown Cincinnati.  Adam was in heaven!  Duke puts up the display every Christmas season, and it's a great family trip to share with the boys.  This year, Sue Sue and Pawpaw were also able to join us for lunch and trains.  We all had a great time!

Tyler had his first cold of the season this month, and the poor guy is such a trooper.  Since all doctors now seem to agree not to give cold medicine to children under 2, we didn't give Tyler anything but ibuprofen for a mild fever.  And he did remarkably well, especially with the humidifier in his room during sleep time (and that's another story trying to clean those things out this year!).  But

Daddy completed his first triathlon last Sunday!  He kayaked 6 miles, ran 5.5 miles, and biked 18 miles.  Whew!  He finished in 4 1/2 hours, which was great for his first time considering how difficult the course was, too.  We're so proud of him and were there to cheer him across the finish line.  Everyone is looking forward to his next triathlon!

Sunday was Ben's birthday, and we had a great family celebration. Going out to dinner with our great friends on Saturday and just taking it easy on Sunday was pretty much the weekend for us. Tyler is now old enough that we let the boys take a bath together for the first time this week. Adam was very good in being patient while I bathed Tyler. Tyler has been a champ at eating! He drinks 8 oz bottles throughout the day, and we put cereal in his last bottle to make sure he sleeps all night. Whoever said that was an old wives' tale was wrong! Ben's grandparents, Mim and Da, now live close by in Lexington. We are excited because they will get to spend so much time with the boys now (they used to live in Florida). Adam has a blast with them, and they love seeing Tyler, too. One of Adam's favorite activities to do with Da is read books. While the boys and I were in GA last week, we got to introduce Tyler to my grandmother. Grandmother S will be 90 years old one month from today! I think she looks wonderful for an almost 90-year-old. Our first snow of the season was heavy at times, but only amounted to about 2 inches. It didn't stop us from playing outside with the neighbors, though, who built a fort!
