Already Multitasking!

Adam was talking to Nana and Granddaddy while we were eating dinner. They called to see how Adam was feeling after he got sick Friday. Can you believe how talented our little guy is already?

Adam got a hold of our digital camera this weekend.........maybe one of these days, he'll perfect this new skill.

Second week of preschool...

Adam had another great day at preschool today! He didn't even cry when I dropped him off. I didn't get a chance to chat with his teacher today, but he told me all about playing with the toys, listening to the bible stories, and playing outside. Who knows if they really played outside today, but he said they did. Oh, and Adam fell down our stairs today, the first huge fall he's had while walking down the steps! He's been walking down like a big boy for a while now, but I think this morning, his new shoes tripped him up, and he rolled about half way down the stairs to the bottom. His head hit with a loud thump, and of course, he started to cry. But I was sure he was OK when he started asking to "watch Dorrie" (Dora the Explorer).

I was actually concerned about taking him to school today for another reason, too. He woke up this morning really hoarse. But, we slept with the windows open last night, so I thought that had something to do with it. Well, when he woke up from his nap this afternoon, he was definitely warm, and after checking his temperature, it was 100.1. And he was very congested in his chest. As the night neared, he sounded bad, and his breathing was heavy. So we called my dad, Granddaddy, (a family doctor, in case you didn't know), and got the directions to give him Robitussin. Adam went to bed hot at 8 because his temp never broke with the first dose of ibuprofen, so we'll be waking him up at 10 to give him another dose. Then, I guess we'll wake him up at midnight for his second dose of Robitussin. I certainly hope both of the second doses do the trick! He actually fell asleep on my chest watching a Little People DVD. Poor little guy!

Tee Time Birthday Cake

I decided to make Ben's birthday cake this year, and it turned out really cute! I found the example on the web, and it was very easy to copy. We had a great time celebrating with Ben's family last night, too! Adam was entertained for hours and crashed at 9:30!

Adam's "Nice Room"

Adam' big boy room is finally done! Well, 99.9%. (I still need to put his white letters on the wall that spell his name). Adam refers to the room as his "nice room." It's been over a month since we started it, and I'm so excited that it's pretty much done. All of the hard labor was done while Nana was in town back in August, so the last few weeks, I've just been lazy with touch-up paint and hanging the window treatment. Nana helped me paint the room khaki and red, and I installed the chair rail while she was in town (Sue Sue helped paint the rails before installing). So, with the generous help of both grandmothers, Adam's room is adorable, if I do say so myself!

Adam's new bed.......he transitioned out of the crib VERY easily!

The poster above his bed is an A-B-C poster titled "The Story of Noah"

It took one coat of primer and 3 coats of paint to complete the red walls.

I tried not to do a "theme" in his new room, but it seems stars became popular because I introduced some Americana items (blanket on rocker, wooden box on dresser, Uncle Josh's flag).

This is where I will be hanging Adam's name, one white letter on each of the red gingham squares.

Adam's Grandmothers bought his new rug for his new room. :) Thank you, Sue Sue and Nana!!

Daddy's 30!!

Happy Birthday, Daddy! It's been fun trying to explain Daddy's birthday to Adam. He can definitely say all three words: Happy, Birthday, and Daddy. Sometimes it's just not in the right order. I hope to get some video of him telling Daddy "Happy Birthday!"

We love you, Daddy!

First Day of Preschool

Adam's first day of preschool was today, and he did great! I was worried that he would not do well since he would be away for 4 hours, but when I picked him up, he was SO happy! His teacher, Ms. Jeannie, said he had so much fun. Ms. Jeannie said she's excited that she has a student this year who will talk with her. Adam is in the one-year-old class since the yearly cutoff is Oct 1. He will turn 2 on Oct 9, so he's still considered a 1yo. He's certainly going to be the most advanced in his class! :)

As you probably guessed, we were rushed to get out the door on time this morning, so I didn't get any good pictures of Adam with his Cars backpack and Cars lunch box. He's also in that phase where he loves to say cheese when the camera comes out, and that then causes some silly face pictures!

Adam was certainly tuckered out after his big day at school!

Even big boys have toys

Our Labor Day weekend was full of fun and excitement! Well, those words would come from Ben's mouth, not necessarily mine. Ben decided to rent a HUGE wood chipper to take care of some dead tree branches in our backyard. It was quite entertaining to watch from our deck, until the guys got a large limb jammed and the toy quit working. Lessons learned, I guess.
Ben thought that the exercise was a success and looks forward to finishing the work.
